Framing Analysis
A June 2024 poll of 1,340 U.S. adults conducted by Marist for NPR and PBS NewsHour reports that 65 percent of respondents describe themselves as proud or very proud to be American, while 83 percent say the country has strayed from its founding ideals. Partisan differences appear in the results, with 93 percent of Republicans and 45 percent of Democrats expressing pride. The survey carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.0 percentage points.
