New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani pledged during his campaign to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the city in September for the UN General Assembly. Mamdani is consulting the city’s Law Department on his authority to do so and has stated in a New York Times interview that Netanyahu belongs in The Hague as a war criminal charged by the ICC. Netanyahu’s visit remains scheduled under federal and UN security protocols.
