New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez is pursuing additional litigation against Meta and an AI company after a March jury verdict found Meta misled users and enabled child sexual exploitation on its platforms, resulting in a nearly $1 billion penalty. The verdict followed a 2023 investigation into child sex trafficking on Facebook and Instagram. Torrez's office has also proposed new state safety laws.
