In the June 18 Rajya Sabha elections for two Jharkhand seats, NDA-backed independent Parimal Nathwani secured 28 votes and JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram secured 30 votes in the 81-member assembly. Congress candidate Pranav Jha received 20 votes, with three ballots declared invalid. The results occurred against a backdrop of 24 NDA MLAs and 56 INDIA bloc MLAs.
BJP secured an NDA-backed seat through cross-voting despite fewer MLAs, highlighting opposition coordination weaknesses and use of religious slogans.
