On July 4, 2026, 150 individuals from 50 countries were naturalized as U.S. citizens in a ceremony on the grounds of George Washington's Mount Vernon estate. The event coincided with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Anne Neal Petri of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association and U.S. Marine Sgt. Diakaria Sangare participated in the proceedings.
