Spanish authorities and Ceuta officials reported that tens of thousands of migrants crossed into the enclave from Morocco beginning July 30 2026 with roughly half later returning. Moroccan security forces used batons and tear gas at border gates while Spanish removals exceeded 150 people per minute at peak. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez visited Ceuta and condemned the breach.
