Washington Examinerworst-case scenario, insurgent campaign
Fox Newsblow to, scandal-plagued
Matt Dunlap won the Democratic primary for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District early Friday morning after launching an insurgent campaign against retiring Rep. Jared Golden. Dunlap will face former two-term Republican Gov. Paul LePage in the general election. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had warned Dunlap that only Golden could retain the seat.
Dunlap’s win represents a grassroots challenge to DCCC caution in Trump-won districts despite warnings that only Golden could hold the seat.
“Electability prioritized over ideological renewal”

“Democratic preference for ideological purity over pragmatism”
Libertarian
Voters rejected DCCC guidance, producing a general-election matchup that may favor restraint on spending and regulation.

“Unchallenged structural assumptions and omitted data”
