The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of 1993-batch IPS officer Mahesh Dixit, currently Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau and from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, as IB Director for a two-year term. He succeeds Tapan Kumar Deka, whose tenure ends June 30. Dixit’s prior roles include leading the J&K desk and heading the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau in Jammu and Kashmir until 2024.
