Framing Analysis
Lebanese Economy Minister Amer Bisat stated in a July 16 Reuters interview that a committee formed in early July will review more than 40 trade agreements with Syria. The two countries share a 375-kilometre border, with bilateral trade having fallen from a peak of just under $800 million to around $250 million last year. Bisat held talks with his Syrian counterpart in Damascus on July 15 following the 2024 ouster of Bashar al-Assad.
