South Korea's KOSPI index gained 4.1 percent to 8,550.21 in the first 30 minutes of trading on June 24, led by gains in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The advance followed a nearly 10 percent drop in the previous session and occurred alongside a 6.2 percent year-to-date weakening of the won. Individual stocks including Samsung Electronics rose more than 9 percent while several other major companies posted smaller gains.
