Jason Arday resigned with immediate effect from his positions as professor of sociology at the University of Cambridge and fellow at Jesus College after the university received new information on his qualifications and launched a separate investigation. An existing academic misconduct review was already underway, with media reports alleging plagiarism in his PhD thesis and other writings. Arday was appointed in 2023 as the youngest Black professor in Cambridge’s history.
