Framing Analysis
The Japanese government confirmed plans on Friday to create an experts’ working group under the panel on a society of coexistence with foreign nationals to review social and economic impacts of accepting foreign nationals and to help formulate basic policy by the end of the fiscal year. A separate working group will address language and etiquette programs and possible numerical caps, following a coalition agreement between the Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party that references a 1.23 million acceptance ceiling. The Immigration Services Agency will add more than 200 enforcement and inspection officers this fiscal year to address visa overstayers and border controls.
