Dr. Syed Maqbool Ahmad Shah, Associate Professor of Cardiology, was suspended on Saturday by the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department following an inquiry into alleged misrepresentation of 103 cardiac procedures under the PMJAY-SEHAT scheme at Government Medical College Anantnag. The doctor is accused of performing Left Bundle Branch Area Pacing procedures while claiming reimbursement for Dual Chamber Pacemaker implants. An expert review of 55 cases found 27 patients had normal heart function with no medical justification for the procedures performed.
