Framing Analysis
In 2018 the Morandi Bridge in Genoa collapsed during a summer storm, killing 43 people when a 50-metre section fell onto warehouses and a riverbed. An Italian court in Genoa convicted 32 defendants, including former Autostrade per l’Italia CEO Giovanni Castellucci, who received a 12-year sentence for complicity in negligent manslaughter. The trial involved 57 defendants and addressed maintenance of the privatized motorway concession.
