Current Irish rules ban e-scooter use by those under 16 and cap speeds at 20 km/h. New measures effective next month will extend the ban to under-18s, require helmets and high-visibility vests, create a national register, and impose penalties on parents who purchase devices for minors. Sales of e-scooters to children and models exceeding speed limits will also be prohibited.
