Iran has offered Oman a temporary traffic arrangement for the Strait of Hormuz that would shift routes into Iranian waters and stated it would keep the strait closed if the proposal is rejected. Tehran rejected an Omani plan for equal division of routes and indicated it no longer recognizes the existing Traffic Separation Scheme. The statements were made by Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on state television following reported U.S. and Israeli attacks in late February.
