Iran has granted passage to several Iraqi oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz following repeated requests from Baghdad, according to statements from Iraqi officials and Iran's state news agency IRNA. Iraq, which produced about 4 million barrels per day before the Iran war, has faced reduced traffic and shipping attacks in the strait and is pursuing alternative export routes via Turkey, Syria, and Jordan. The permission was reported on August 22 after high-level diplomatic contacts.
