Framing Analysis
The International Maritime Organization has temporarily halted its role in coordinating vessel movements through the Strait of Hormuz following an Iranian attack on Taiwan’s container ship Ever Lovely operated by Evergreen. 115 vessels and roughly 2,500 seafarers had already transited before the pause, which occurred after a June 22 2026 meeting between Omani and Iranian foreign ministers. Iran asserted authority over the strait while the targeted vessel reported no injuries and continued its voyage independently of the IMO plan.
