Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a 52-year-old Mexican national with no criminal record, was fatally shot by an ICE agent during a traffic stop in Houston early Tuesday morning. Araujo was not the target of the operation, which aimed to arrest an individual present without legal status. DHS stated that Araujo rammed an ICE vehicle, prompting a self-defense shooting, while officers involved wore no body cameras and the involved agent's name remains undisclosed.
