IATA revised its 2026 global airline net profit projection from $41 billion to $23 billion in its June 7, 2026 report issued in Rio de Janeiro. The downgrade coincides with an estimated $100 billion increase in jet fuel costs and disruptions to Gulf air corridors linked to Middle East conflict. Industry revenues are projected above $1.1 trillion while 2025 net profit stood at $45 billion.
