Framing Analysis
A federal jury convicted Hadi Matar, 28, of all charges including transnational terrorism for the August 2022 onstage stabbing of author Salman Rushdie. Matar, already serving a 25-year New York state sentence for attempted murder, faces a potential life sentence. Prosecutors linked the attack, in which Rushdie suffered 15 wounds and lost sight in his right eye, to a 1989 fatwa by Ayatollah Khomeini.
