Greece's security council KYSEA is scheduled to grant final approval on Thursday for a multi-layer air defense system from Israel valued at up to €3.5 billion. The system, designated Achilles Shield, incorporates Israeli radars and missiles along with drones and forms part of a larger €28 billion military modernization program through 2036. Greece currently allocates nearly 3.5 percent of GDP to defense, exceeding most NATO members, amid ongoing regional tensions.
