Georgia Republican House leaders announced on June 17, 2026 that they would not redraw congressional and state legislative districts before the 2028 elections. Governor Brian Kemp had called a special legislative session in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Louisiana v. Callais. The announcement follows prior court-ordered changes to Georgia maps implemented for the 2024 elections.
