Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin directed prosecutors on June 8 to re-examine approximately 70,000 cases involving children by July 14. The order followed the discovery of the body of 11-year-old Lyhanna near Fleurance after her disappearance on May 29. Darmanin described prior handling of accusations against the main suspect as a “huge failure.”
