On August 10, 2026, former lawmaker Chalong Riewraeng shot and killed Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization chairman Thongchai Yenprasert at the PAO office. The shooter was arrested at the scene and confessed; police identified the motive as a personal dispute over borrowed money. Thongchai's driver was wounded but survived after surgery.
