Former Guerrero state governor Angel Aguirre was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice and forced disappearance in connection with the 2014 disappearance of 43 students from Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers College. Attorney General Ernestina Godoy announced the arrest, which is based on new testimony alleging Aguirre ordered the destruction of evidence. International investigations previously concluded the students were killed by organized crime groups in coordination with local police.
