Framing Analysis
A Western Australian jury convicted 76-year-old former Bishop Christopher Saunders of 13 sexual offences against two adult men between 2008 and 2019, including one count of sexual penetration without consent and 12 indecent assaults. Saunders, who led the Broome diocese from 1996 until stepping aside in 2020, was acquitted on six charges; four additional child-related counts were dropped before trial. Pope Francis accepted his resignation in 2021.
