Robert Kocharyan, 71, and five associates including his son were detained Tuesday on charges of abuse of authority, bribery and large-scale money laundering tied to alleged undervalued sales of state assets during his 1998-2008 presidency. The Anti-Corruption Committee is also investigating related transactions and has summoned his successor Serzh Sargsyan. The detentions followed raids on family-linked businesses less than 24 hours after a parliamentary clash between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Kocharyan’s son.
