Framing Analysis
The FDA upgraded an existing voluntary recall of approximately 650,000 bags of Utz Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips to Class I status after potential salmonella contamination was identified in a third-party supplier’s dry milk powder. Utz initiated the recall in May with best-by dates from 27 July to 31 August and reported no confirmed contamination or illnesses in its products. Consumers are advised to discard affected items and contact the company for refunds.
