Five people were killed and at least ten injured in an explosion at the New Fire Works firecracker unit on Ramol-Gatrad Road near Vastral on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on Saturday afternoon. The unit was suspected to have been operating illegally after its license had previously been cancelled, with police verifying its status. Fifteen people were affected in total, with victims treated at LG Hospital and Civil Hospital.
