The European Union and UNICEF dispatched 100 tons of medical and protective supplies from Belgium to Ituri Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo to address an Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus. The shipment targets support for approximately 100,000 people among one million displaced individuals across 60 camps, while the WHO declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on 17 May. Switzerland separately allocated $3.8 million for related operations.
