Framing Analysis
Ethiopia's legislative election occurred on June 1, 2021, with voting held in 501 of 547 constituencies and results announced three weeks later. The Prosperity Party, led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed since 2018, won 438 of 486 seats in the House of Peoples' Representatives from approximately 40 million votes cast out of 54 million registered voters. One hundred forty-three polling stations remained closed due to security concerns.
