A European Council on Foreign Relations survey published this week reports that 11% of respondents across 15 countries view the United States as an ally, down from 22% in November 2024. Majorities in all countries expressed doubts about US defense commitments, while support for higher national defense budgets increased four points year-over-year. Most respondents also favored shifting toward European weapons procurement over US systems.
