Congo health authorities reported 4,381 confirmed Ebola cases and 2,011 deaths as of Tuesday, with the outbreak beginning in February and officially declared in mid-May. The affected area spans five eastern provinces bordering South Sudan, Uganda, and Rwanda. The death toll accumulated nearly three times faster than during the 2014-16 West Africa outbreak.
