CXMT, identified as China’s leading producer of DRAM chips, sued the U.S. Department of Defense and three senior officials on August 28 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The suit challenges the company’s designation as a Chinese military company, a label first applied under the Biden administration and retained in a June update under the Trump administration. CXMT states its chips are produced solely for civilian and commercial applications.
