The CDC has issued an alert on 1,645 laboratory-confirmed cyclosporiasis cases across 34 states since May 1, with more than 5,100 additional illnesses pending analysis. Michigan alone has recorded 3,309 cases, far exceeding its typical annual total of 40-50. A multistate cluster accounts for over 400 cases in four states, with 141 hospitalizations reported to date.
