US health authorities activated the CDC's highest Level 1 response on June 26 to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has recorded 1,115 confirmed cases and 304 deaths according to Straits Times reporting. The outbreak has also spread to Uganda with 20 confirmed cases and two deaths since May 15.
