In Assam's Jorhat assembly constituency, BJP candidate Hitendra Nath Goswami won with 69,439 votes, defeating Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi who received 46,257 votes. This marks Goswami's third consecutive term retaining the seat, amid BJP leading in 78 of the state's 126 seats per preliminary counts. Congress, contesting 99 seats, showed early leads in 21 but faced challenges including opposition leader Debabrata Saikia trailing in Nazira.
