Rapid analyses by World Weather Attribution found human-caused climate change increased the likelihood of extreme fire conditions by a factor of 20 in Spain and doubled them in France. The studies examined temperature, drought, humidity, and wind patterns during ongoing fires that prompted mass evacuations. A separate analysis noted that days with extreme fire-prone weather in Southern Europe have more than doubled compared to prior decades.
