Amazon plans to expand its drone delivery operations to suburban areas in nearly 500 U.S. cities by the end of the year, representing a sixfold increase from its current footprint. The service targets packages up to five pounds with delivery times as fast as 30 minutes, following hundreds of thousands of deliveries completed this year. Regulatory approvals secured in 2024 have supported growth beyond initial markets in Dallas and Phoenix.
