Abdul El-Sayed, a 41-year-old former public health official, won the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Michigan by defeating Rep. Haley Stevens by 14,893 votes out of more than 1.5 million ballots cast. The Associated Press declared El-Sayed the winner of the primary, setting up a November matchup against Republican Mike Rogers.
