Framing Analysis
The United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945 and Nagasaki on 9 August 1945, with combined estimated deaths reaching 210,000 by December 1945. Memorial events on the 81st anniversaries drew representatives from more than 90 countries to Nagasaki Peace Park. Japanese officials have issued conflicting statements on the three non-nuclear principles while some have called for open discussion of nuclear options.
