Framing Analysis
A 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit Colombia on August 10, 2026, resulting in at least 181 deaths including 95 in Cali, more than 1,300 injuries, and 239 people trapped under rubble in Cali. The Colombian government declared a state of emergency, and damage to Hospital Universitario del Valle in Cali led to the transfer of around 90 patients. Rescue operations included the extraction of a baby from rubble, with video footage posted on August 11.
