WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus visited Kampala on Monday and stated that Uganda has recorded 19 Ebola cases, of which 15 are imported and 4 result from local contacts, with a case fatality rate below one percent. The Ugandan government canceled Martyr’s Day celebrations last week and has established two border testing laboratories while planning additional treatment units and health-worker teams. Tedros credited the country’s detection system and noted WHO assistance in training health workers.
